Twitter Unfollowers: 6 Best Apps to Track Them on X (2026)

Track who unfollowed you on X, with the reason

Postory re-reads your followers daily or weekly, looks up each account that left and shows only proven changes: unfollowed, deleted or suspended, or went protected. From the day you start.

Key Takeaway

No app can show Twitter unfollowers from before it started watching. Pick one that signs in through X (never your password), says what it costs, and tells a real unfollow from a deleted, suspended or protected account.

Many "best" lists predate X's 2023 API change and still recommend tools that are gone. We checked every app below on its own site on 18 October 2026: does it still work on X, what access it asks for, what it costs, when its history starts, and whether it can tell an unfollow from an account that simply disappeared.

Can You See Twitter Unfollowers Natively on X?

No. X sends no unfollow notification and keeps no list of who left. The only native check is the Follows you badge on someone's profile: if it's gone, they've stopped following you, though a suspension or a block can look the same.

Everything else is a snapshot comparison: save your followers list, save it again later, see who's missing. You can do that by hand, as our guide to seeing who unfollowed you on X shows, or let an app take the snapshots for you.

What to Check Before You Connect a Twitter Unfollow Checker

Five checks sort them:

  1. Access. Sign in on X's own screen (OAuth); an extension works inside your logged-in X session. Never type your X password into a third-party site.
  2. History. Every tracker starts at day 0, the day you connect. If one promises past unfollows, it's guessing.
  3. What it proves. Accounts leave your list when they unfollow, but also when they're deleted, suspended or locked. A good tool tells these apart.
  4. Price model. Monthly plan, follower caps, or pay per update.
  5. Still working. In 2023 Twitter cut its free API to a bare posting tier and moved reading to paid plans, the change that ended UnfollowerStats and others.

Twitter Unfollow Tools That No Longer Work

  • ManageFlitter. Its site says: "As of January 2022, the ManageFlitter service is no longer available."
  • UnfollowerStats. Fedica says it was "discontinued due to X's API price changes".
  • Crowdfire. Its homepage now describes "a media platform" and offers no unfollower tool.
  • Tweepi. Its domain didn't load on our check.

Two old names live on inside Fedica. Who.Unfollowed.Me now signs you up for Fedica's tracking on the Grow plan. TwitterAudit is a Fedica-run fake-follower audit, not an unfollower tracker.

Is a Twitter Unfollow Tool Safe? What to Avoid

  • Password forms. A real app sends you to X's authorization screen. X's page on third-party apps explains what each permission allows and how to revoke an app under Apps and sessions.
  • Auto-unfollow sprees. X's rules on following name "follow churn" and indiscriminate following or unfollowing of many accounts in a short time, especially by automated means; breaking them can get the account restricted. Unfollow by hand, a few at a time.

The other list, the accounts you follow that are dead or don't follow back, is a separate job: the X Following Cleaner names them and you unfollow on X. To drop followers you don't want, see how to remove followers on X.

Start Tracking Twitter Unfollowers with Postory

Postory Followers re-reads your followers daily or weekly and shows who unfollowed, who was deleted or suspended, and who went protected, from the day you start. X leaves some accounts out of a follower list, so a missing name is never reported until a lookup proves it. You see the cost before you turn it on. See how Followers works, or open Followers if you're signed in.

FAQ

Q: Does X notify you when someone unfollows you?

No. X notifies you about new followers, never about unfollows, and there's no setting to turn one on. Comparing snapshots of your followers list, by hand or with a tracker, is the only way to find out.

Q: Can I see who unfollowed me before I started tracking?

No. X keeps your current followers list, not its history, so no app can reconstruct who left before it took its first snapshot. The apps that state it all say history starts the day you connect; none can reach back further.

Q: Is a Twitter unfollow checker safe?

It is if it signs you in on X's own authorization screen and you can revoke it under Apps and sessions. Avoid any site that asks for your X password, and don't use any app's bulk-unfollow feature.

Q: Why did my follower count drop when nobody unfollowed me?

Accounts that get deleted, suspended or locked leave your count too. That's why the better apps look each departure up before calling it an unfollow, and why one that can't tell them apart overstates your unfollowers.

Q: What's the best unfollow app for Twitter if I don't want a subscription?

Unfollow Monkey has a free tier for accounts under 2,000 followers with monthly checks. Postory Followers charges per update in credits, with no subscription, so a small account pays little.

Q: Does Postory unfollow anyone for me?

No. Postory never follows or unfollows for you. It shows who left and whether you still follow them; you decide on X. Its separate bot audit checks your most recent followers for likely bots and never removes or blocks anyone.
