X Premium vs Premium Plus: Is Either Worth It in 2026?

Since October 12, 2026, new buyers choose between X Subscription Plus ($8/month: checkmark, reply boost, Articles, Radar Search, Advanced Analytics) and X Subscription Premium ($30/month: X Premium+ level benefits, a higher reply boost, ad-free scrolling on most surfaces, 4x the AI usage). Existing subscribers can keep legacy Premium ($8) or Premium+ ($40). None of them guarantees a meaningful impressions lift.
X Premium vs Premium Plus is a question about what you'll actually use, not just whether a paid badge looks better. X says higher tiers rank your replies more prominently, but its public feature list gives no percentage or promise for your posts' impressions. Here are the tools, the evidence, and a practical way to choose.
X Premium vs Premium Plus: which plans can you buy now?
This is where the labels get confusing. On October 12, 2026, X folded Premium into The X Subscription, one plan for X, Grok, and Cursor. X's own help page now opens with that note: every paid plan includes X Premium benefits, and if you already subscribe to X Premium, "your plan, price, and features stay the same until you choose to switch."

So there are two sets of names. Existing subscribers keep the legacy tiers: X's FAQ lists Basic at $3/month, Premium at $8/month, and Premium+ at $40/month on the US web. New buyers get xAI's bundle: Plus at $8/month and Premium at $30/month, with Super ($100) and Ultra ($200) adding only AI usage. The new $30 Premium is the old Premium+ in spirit; xAI's launch post describes it as the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+. It is not the old $8 Premium. Local prices, taxes, and app-store billing can differ.
| Plan | US web price | Who can buy it | What it adds on X |
|---|---|---|---|
| Legacy Basic | $3/month | Existing subscribers | Editing, longer posts and videos, bookmark folders, some reply prioritization; no checkmark |
| Legacy Premium | $8/month | Existing subscribers | Checkmark after review, about 50% fewer ads, larger reply prioritization, Media Studio, creator program applications |
| Legacy Premium+ | $40/month | Existing subscribers | Largest reply prioritization, ads removed from most of X, X Pro, Radar Search, SuperGrok, Grok Bot |
| X Subscription Plus | $8/month | New buyers | Checkmark, reply boost, Articles, Radar Search, Advanced Analytics, fewer timeline ads |
| X Subscription Premium | $30/month | New buyers | Everything in Plus, a higher reply boost, ad-free scrolling on most surfaces, preferred @handle, Grok Bot, 4x Plus AI usage |

One detail is easy to miss: the new $8 Plus lists more X features than legacy $8 Premium did. xAI's comparison table marks Articles, Radar Search, and Advanced Analytics as included from Plus up, while the old tiers kept Radar for Premium+.

The checkmark is not a reach guarantee. Creator payouts require separate eligibility.
Which Premium+ tools are useful in practice?
X Pro is a multi-column view for watching lists, searches, and timelines. X describes real-time refresh and advanced search. It earns its price if you monitor several conversations daily. On the legacy plans it has been Premium+ only since March 2026. xAI's comparison table does not name X Pro, so if it is the reason you are buying, confirm it in the checkout before you pay for the new $30 Premium.
Radar Search tracks keywords and trends. X's business feature guide says legacy Premium+ gets a limited version, while business plans get more queries; on the new bundle it is listed from Plus up. Radar does not promote your posts.
Legacy Premium cuts ads in the For You and Following timelines by about half; Premium+ removes them from most areas, though X warns about occasional sponsored content. On the new plans, Plus shows ads on fewer surfaces and Premium is ad-free on most. If you rarely use X Pro or want a cleaner feed, the feature gap between the tiers is small.
Does Premium+ increase impressions or reply visibility?
X says paid replies receive priority, with the largest prioritization on Premium+. Its timeline documentation lists subscription status among the factors used to rank a reply, alongside whether the author replied and whether the viewer follows the account:

X has not published a percentage uplift. Reply placement and post impressions are different outcomes: a reply moving up a thread does not establish that your original posts will get more views.
Buffer's October 2025 analysis covered 18.8 million posts from 71,000 Buffer-connected accounts between August 2024 and August 2025. In that sample, free accounts were typically under 100 impressions per post, Premium accounts near 600, and Premium+ accounts above 1,550. The accounts could differ in audience, topic, and posting habits. These gaps do not measure what would happen if the same account upgraded. They also predate the new bundles.
Individual experiences are mixed. In a September 2026 discussion, one commenter argued that a paid reply boost helps replies to larger accounts get seen, while another said reach underperformed with or without Premium. In a separate October 2026 thread, commenters favored standard Premium over Premium+ or said their visibility remained poor. These are opinions and self-reports, not controlled before-and-after data.
Postory's founder estimates, from personal use, that Premium+ may make replies roughly 2–5% more visible. That is unmeasured, with no fixed baseline or test method; it is not a platform figure. If visibility is your goal, compare median impressions and meaningful replies from similar posts, and read X's impression metric correctly. Keep topic and cadence steady. A change is a clue, not proof of cause.
What does Grok add, and where are the limits?
Grok gives you chat, voice, and image and video creation. Premium has increased Grok usage; Premium+ adds higher limits and Grok Bot, according to X's tier description. The newer combined subscription also includes Cursor coding tools, but Grok Build has limited free-tier access; it is not a Premium exclusive, as xAI's live pricing table shows. These AI tools may be useful if you already use them, but they do not improve your X ranking by themselves.
For the new bundle, eligible first-party Grok and Cursor use comes from one weekly pool, not a fixed number of prompts. The xAI usage guide says tasks consume different amounts, shows your remaining allowance and reset date in the account, and allows paid top-ups after the pool runs out. Review your live allowance before upgrading for AI alone. The Grok developer API has separate billing.
So, is X Premium or Premium+ worth it?
Stay free if you mainly read, post casually, or expect the subscription to rescue weak reach. New buyer? Start with $8 X Subscription Plus: it already includes the checkmark, reply boost, Articles, Radar Search, and Advanced Analytics. Choose $30 X Subscription Premium only if the higher reply boost, an almost ad-free feed, Grok Bot, or the larger AI allowance are worth $22 more a month without counting on a reach windfall. Existing subscriber? Keep your legacy Premium or Premium+ plan only if you use its tools; compare your current entitlements and price before switching bundles.
If growth is your goal, improve your posts and conversations first. Use a specific reply strategy and record your metrics. For a wider look at topics, formats, and posting times, X Profile Audit reviews your account's patterns. Paying can affect reply ranking; it cannot guarantee an audience.

FAQ
Q: Is Premium+ guaranteed to get more impressions than Premium?
No. X promises stronger reply prioritization for Premium+, but publishes no numerical uplift or post-impressions guarantee. Buffer observed higher impressions among Premium+ accounts in its 2024–2025 sample; that comparison does not isolate the effect of upgrading.
Q: Is X Premium worth it just for the blue checkmark?
Only if the badge and its associated tools matter to your workflow. A checkmark is subject to X's eligibility review and does not certify expertise or guarantee visibility.
Q: Does X Premium include Analytics?
X says post view counts are visible to everyone. The new X Subscription pricing page lists Advanced Analytics on Plus and higher. Check which analytics screens your account actually offers before paying for a tier.
Q: Do I need Premium+ for X Pro and Radar?
On the legacy plans, yes: X lists X Pro and Radar Search as Premium+ benefits, and Premium+ gets a limited Radar compared with business subscriptions. On the new plans, xAI lists Radar Search from the $8 Plus up and does not name X Pro, so check the checkout page if X Pro is the reason you are paying.
Q: Are Grok Build and Grok Bot the same thing?
No. xAI's pricing page lists limited Grok Build access on its free tier. Grok Bot is a separate agent feature included in the new Premium tier and above, and its eligible use draws from the weekly pool.
Q: Can I keep an older X Premium or Premium+ subscription?
Yes. xAI says existing plans continue unless you switch or cancel. Compare your current bill and tools with the new bundle shown in your billing settings before changing plans.
