Twitter Video Finder: Find Videos on X (2026)

Key Takeaway

X's own search is the best Twitter video finder: add filter:videos to any search, combine it with from:, since: or min_faves:, or open the Media tab. A profile's Media tab lists one account's clips, History holds your Bookmarks and Likes, and the "From" credit on a reused clip leads back to the original post. There is no watch history.

You saw a clip on X yesterday, or you want every video an account has posted, or a viral video is doing the rounds and you want to know who filmed it. X (formerly Twitter) has a built-in Twitter video finder for each job, once you know where to look. We checked each x.com method below in October 2026.

How to search videos on Twitter (X)

Log in first. X's Advanced Search help says the tool "is available when you're logged in," and logged-out visitors can't search X at all; our guide to viewing X without an account covers what they can still reach.

  1. Type your keywords into the search box on Explore.
  2. Open the Media tab. On x.com in October 2026 the tabs were Top, Latest, People, Media and Lists, and Media shows only posts with photos or videos.
  3. Switch to Latest if you want the newest clips rather than the ones X ranks highest.

The apps label things differently. X's search guide says the iOS app filters results by Top, Latest, People, Photos, Videos, News or Broadcasts, so on an iPhone you can tap Videos directly. On the web, the operators below do the same job.

Twitter video search operators

Operators are short commands typed next to your keywords. Two of them narrow a Twitter video search to posts with video:

  • filter:videos keeps posts with a video. The community-maintained twitter-advanced-search reference says it also covers external video such as YouTube links.
  • filter:native_video keeps video hosted by X itself, according to the same reference.

In our October 2026 tests both returned the same posts, and filter:videos -filter:native_video returned nothing, so either works. Combine them with other operators to cut the noise:

SearchWhat it finds
artemis filter:videosVideo posts that mention Artemis
artemis filter:videos min_faves:500Only those with at least 500 likes
artemis filter:videos lang:en since:2026-09-01English clips posted since September 1
from:NASA filter:videosEvery video NASA posted that search can reach

The reference notes that since: includes its date and until: excludes it, and that lang: is "not always accurate." For the full operator list, see our guide on how to search tweets on X.

Find videos from a specific account

Open the account's Media tab. On x.com, a profile in October 2026 had four tabs: Posts, Replies, Reposts and Media. The Media tab lives at x.com/username/media; once open it reads Videos, and its dropdown switches between Videos and Photos. It lists the account's own video posts, newest first.

Search when the account posts a lot:

  1. Type from:username filter:videos.
  2. Add a keyword you remember: from:NASA filter:videos moon.
  3. Add since: and until: if you know roughly when it was posted.

from: returns what the account wrote, not what it reposted, so a clip they only shared from someone else won't appear.

Find a video you watched before

X has no watch history. The History item in the x.com menu, in our October 2026 check, held two tabs: Bookmarks and Likes. Nothing there lists videos you only watched.

A clip you watched without saving can only be found again through search: a word from the post or the account's name plus filter:videos. For next time, save what you want to keep.

Bookmarks. Tap the bookmark icon on a post to save it. X's Bookmarks help says bookmarks "are private and are only viewable to you." On x.com you'll find them under History → Bookmarks. In our check that page had a search box, and searching an account's name found the bookmarked post.

Likes. Every post you liked sits under History → Likes. Since June 2024 likes have been private: Engadget reported that you can still see the posts you liked, but other people can't. The Likes tab had no search box in our check, so you scroll.

How to find the original source of a video on X

Popular clips get re-posted again and again. In May 2026, X's head of product said it was moving impressions from accounts that re-upload smaller creators' posts to the original creator, as Tech-ish reported. Three ways to find who posted a clip first:

1. Click the "From" credit. When someone shares a video from another post, X shows a small credit badge on the player with the original account's picture and name ("From" plus the name). In our check, clicking it opened the original post, which had far more views than the copy we started from.

2. Search X for the original post's link. Copy the post URL and paste it into X search, then open Latest. When we searched an original post's link, the first four results all carried the same video file. A link ending in /video/1 returned the same results, as did url: followed by the post's ID.

3. Reverse-search a frame. For a clip re-uploaded without credit, pause on a clear frame and take a screenshot.

  • Google Lens: Google's help page says you can right-click an image in Chrome and choose Search with Google Lens, or upload a file from google.com. Results can include "Websites with the image or a similar image."
  • TinEye: its FAQ says it can show "where the image you searched for was first used," and lets you sort matches by the oldest crawled image.

A frame match points you to pages that carry the same picture. Check the date and the account before you credit anyone.

What a Twitter video finder can't do

Limits of X's own search:

  • No watch history. X shows you no list of the videos you watched.
  • No search inside the video. X search reads the words in a post, and nothing in X's search help describes searching what someone says on camera. If the poster didn't write it, a keyword won't find it.
  • Deleted videos are gone from search. X says a deleted post is removed from X search results on the web and in the apps.
  • Protected videos stay with followers. X's public and protected posts page says protected posts are searchable on X only by the author and their followers.

Third-party "Twitter video finder" sites can't get around the watch-history, deleted or protected limits. Many re-index public posts X search already reaches, and some are video downloaders under another name. None needs your X password.

FAQ

Q: Where are saved videos on X?

Under History → Bookmarks on x.com, or Bookmarks in the app menu. X keeps any post you bookmarked there, video or not, and only you can see it. Liked videos sit under History → Likes.

Q: How do I make X only show videos?

In search, add filter:videos to your keywords, or use the Media tab on the web. In the iOS app, tap Videos at the top of the search results. On a profile, open the Media tab.

Q: How do I find the original version of a video on X?

Click the "From" credit on the player if there is one. If not, paste the post's link into X search and open Latest to see where else the clip appears. For re-uploads with no credit, run a screenshot of a clear frame through Google Lens or TinEye.

Q: Does X have a watch history?

No. History on x.com holds only your Bookmarks and Likes. A video you watched without bookmarking or liking it can only be found again through search.
